Resources feels plentiful to most of us, till they dry up instantly

When drinking from from a glass through a straw there seems to be plenty, till there is not. Many resources works the same way: our pay-cards works fine, till they don’t. Gasoline pumps on the gas station fills all cars and the tap in our homes gives us water when we turn it… until we run out of what-ever was at the end of our straw…
I wonder if other resources works more or less in the same way? Ask old people and they smile: “yes… Even time“
